The administrative process in brief

The cottage has a professional equipped kitchen (oven, hob, large fridge, dishwasher, full crockery for fifteen) that lets an outside caterer work in good conditions. You are free to choose:

• A cold caterer only, and cook the rest yourselves
• A private chef just for the wedding dinner

What we do NOT do

This section is intentionally direct. The privately hired wedding cottage format we offer is specific, and it is better to know upfront than to try to bend it.

No more than 15 guests, ever

The 15-guest capacity is strict, couple included. Not sixteen “because they’re our best friend”. Not twenty “who won’t sleep on site”. The neighbourhood, the grounds, the kitchen, the bathrooms are sized for fifteen. Beyond that, the cottage stops working properly. If your heart is set on fifty or one hundred guests, we are not the right venue — and we will tell you straight away.

No marquee or reception tent

We do not allow marquees, tents or reception structures on the grounds. The covered terrace and the living room serve as covered areas, the garden serves as open space. This constraint also protects you: no weather-related stress about a marquee being put up, no hidden cost of structure rental.

No religious ceremony on site

We cannot organise a religious ceremony at the cottage or in its garden (Catholic, Protestant, Jewish, Muslim, secular officiant, etc.). Several churches are accessible nearby — notably the church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste in Verdun-sur-le-Doubs and several parishes in the area — for couples who want to combine civil + religious. No DJ with late outdoor sound

We are in a rural area, with several neighbouring homes nearby. A powerful outdoor sound system in the evening is excluded. A quiet musical atmosphere, dinner music, a playlist in the living room: yes, no problem, until a reasonable hour.

Hen / stag parties: by prior arrangement

Hen parties, stag parties and celebrations are possible with our prior agreement, within the 15-guest limit and with respect for the neighbours (calm evening music, no powerful outdoor sound system). Just tell us about your plans when booking.

Good news: we apply standard seasonal rates, with no wedding surcharge. You pay for the private hire of the cottage, not for an “event supplement”.

• Three nights recommended for a wedding weekend: D-1 prep, D-Day ceremony, D+1 recovery
• 30% deposit on booking, balance 30 days before arrival

What is the maximum number of guests?

15 people maximum, couple included. This limit is strict and non-negotiable. We do not provide extra bedding, and we do not tolerate “guests just dropping in for the meal” beyond this limit. This is what guarantees the quality of the stay for everyone.

Can we organise a religious ceremony on site?

No, we do not host religious ceremonies at the cottage or in its garden. However, several churches are accessible within a few minutes’ drive — notably in Verdun-sur-le-Doubs and the nearby villages. We can point you towards local parishes if needed.

Are outside caterers allowed?

Yes, fully. The cottage’s professional equipped kitchen is available to the caterer of your choice. We take no commission from outside providers. On request, we share a few names of local caterers our guests have used.

Do you accept pets?

No, the cottage does not accept pets. This is a choice driven by allergies and furniture maintenance. The cottage is also non-smoking indoors (smoking area on the terrace).

Can we install a marquee or a tent on the grounds?

No. The garden is not designed for an event structure, and we do not wish to alter it. The covered terrace (table for 15) and the living room serve as covered spaces, the 900 m² garden as the open space.

How far in advance should we book a wedding weekend?

For spring and summer dates, we recommend booking 6 to 9 months ahead. For autumn and winter, 2 to 4 months is usually enough.
